From the green mangrove of Kalimantan forest, we bring delectable soft crabs, a worldwide favourite for their sweet, flavorful white meat. Our soft crabs (Scylla serrata) are packed  on site where we develop modern farming ponds at Tarakan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

It all started from our concern: many mangrove forest in Indonesia’s coastal region have been destroyed and lost due to the extensive exploitation of shrimp ponds. Without considering the environment sustainability, the pond’s productivity decreased drastically, leaving the shrimp ponds as non-productive areas.

Working together with the local officials to restore the environmental sustainability of the mangrove forest, we initiated the soft shell mangrove crab aquaculture project. By utilizing the non-productive ponds, we have given the unemployed farmers new sources of earnings. Furthermore, we have established commitments with the farmers to start planting mangrove trees in the ponds, as the natural habitat of the mangrove crabs.

Our ling term goal here, is to build a business which focuses on managing the natural and human resources, to produce environmentally friendly product, in order to maintain a sustainability environment.

Farming Methods:

1. Bamboo cage farming

We are working together with many soft crab farmers in two main locations: Balikpapan and Tarakan, both in the eastern part of Kalimantan Island.  Farmers using the bamboo cage method  such as these, make up approximately 70% of the total farmers working with us.

2. Plastic Cage Farming

Besides the conventional bamboo cage method, we have also developed another method of raising these soft crabs, which utilizes plastic cages.  This farming method enables us to produce soft shell crabs which are more natural and with large claws.  That is why this method is often referred to as the “Popeye Method”.

Processing Plant



We conduct our processing under a standard HACCP guidelines and strict quality supervision.  We are also implementing ongoing improvements and adjustment to maintain and increase the quality and safety of the product we manufacture.
